You Want Me to Do What?
This past Saturday was my beautiful wife’s birthday, and as such, I naturally asked her what she would like to do on her birthday. Her response was, “I’d like to go out to the Cosmeceutical Studio and get a VI Peel, and I want you to do it with me.” 😳 My response: “Come again, you want me to do what?” More on that in a bit…
The Cosmeceutical Studio is located out in Kingsburg, and Linda has been going out there for some time now. They are a local treasure that Linda and I like to highlight from time to time here on our BLOG, The Todd & Linda Files. The staff is friendly and courteous, and of note, they are always playing Christian music in the lobby, which is a really nice indicator of who they are. The prices are very affordable, too, which makes it worth the trip to Kingsburg.
Linda Getting Her VI PEEL
To complicate matters, well after Linda made this appointment for us, our kids Ashley and Luke approached us wanting to take family pictures at the Japanese Gardens at Woodward Park the very next day after our peels, and it was the only day that seemed to work out for everyone. Thankfully, our faces hadn’t yet started to peel away, but they’ll still have to do some Photoshop magic on us, I suspect.
Okay, I said I’d get back to my participation in this little adventure, and here it is. Yes, I absolutely agreed to do this and to make a fun day out of it for Linda. One of her other favorite things is also out in Kingsburg and that is Fugazzis so this was a package deal, a peel, and then some lunch. What exactly is a VI Peel? Good question and it was my question too. Here is the official marketing lingo for it:
VI PEEL ADVANCED:
This potent, powerful treatment is ideal for more mature clients that want to intensify results against deep-set wrinkles and loss of elasticity. Our innovative treatment is formulated with a synergistic blend of ingredients that penetrate deeper to combat the signs of aging and soften fine lines and wrinkles. This targeted formula helps enhance collagen stimulation to increase cell turnover and help firm the skin.
FOR SKIN CONCERNS:
Aging Skin (Ages 40+)
Wrinkles
Fine Lines
Loss of Elasticity
As I evaluate where I fit into these skin concerns I can humbly admit the following.
THE DAY OF (aka, LINDA'S BIRTHDAY)...
The treatment is completely painless. None of this has been painful in the least. They thoroughly clean your face and then apply some stuff on you and do some other stuff to you (don’t ask me what it is because I have no idea), then they apply some more lotions, and you’re good to go. You leave with an orange glow that you have to wash off in 4 hours, and then for the next 7 days, you have to apply some lotions in a strategic order that they send you home with in a fancy little box. The whole thing is quite civilized, I suppose. The official narrative is that you’ll start to peel by day 3 and be done with the process by day 7.
Our dear friend Lorraine came out and had lunch with us at Fugazzis which was quite nice but as you can imagine, Linda would not allow Lorraine to post any pictures of it. That’s because we looked like Oompa Loompas with our bright orange glow. That was a fun experience by the way and yes, sarcasm is intended.
Now, back to that; you’ll start to peel by day 3 part. On Monday, Linda and I had a final walkthrough scheduled on a property in Cambria. We thought we’d be okay because it’ll only be day 2. LOL, not so, at least for Linda that is. For me, yeah, I was fine, but for poor Linda, holy cow, her entire face was sluffing off like a snake shedding its skin. I have to admit, I felt badly for her but secretly I sure was glad it wasn’t me. 😳
As I am writing this blog post on my computer, it’s now day 3 for me, and I’m just starting to peel. I’m glad I’m at home and can do this with my dignity intact. We will be birthed out of this ordeal with skin like a baby’s backside, though, you can take that to the bank. At least I think you can…
All my best!
